Berkshire Music Project

Gabe Klavun

Gabe Klavun has been writing music since he was ten years old. Starting out with his best friend before either of their voices had changed, they would go up into the hills with a little tape recorder and sing with dreams of stardom. Soon after, Gabe became interested in electronic music, and the two started recording using very simple equipment. When Gabe went off to college, he took some courses in electronic music and composed a huge number of musical pieces, but it was not until after dropping out of graduate school that he began to shift gears towards writing songs. The end of a torrid graduate school experience and a long term relationship gave Gabe the fuel and catalyst to tap into finding words for his music. At this point Gabe found himself writing more music using the guitar than synthesizers and leaning stylistically more towards modern folk. His interest in electronics and music led him to start building a home studio in which he would spend hours making arrangements for his works. Gabe calls himself "a recording artist who also loves to perform" but is often frustrated by the limits in the sound that a solo performer can produce, being used to recording broader arrangements in the studio. He hopes to form a band in the near future. His influences, among others, are Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sarah McLachlan, Shawn Mullins, and David Wilcox.

Gabe's love of music and recording has led to him starting and producing the Berkshire Music Project.

We All Need Someone
by Gabe Klavun

Generally I'm a pretty happy fellow
Life's been good, and I stay pretty mellow
Oh, but sometimes I feel a little pain
Sometimes the sunshine, well you know, it's replaced by rain
And all I want is

Someone to hold me tight
Someone to lie next to me through the lonely night
Someone to keep me company in lonely times
Someone to play a role with me in lonely crimes

Because sometimes, well, we all feel the pain
And sometimes the sunshine, well you know, it feels like rain
And all you want is

Someone to hold you tight
Someone to help you through the lonely, lonely, lonely night
Someone to help ease the pain
Someone who let's some sunshine through the rain, through the rain

Oh, sometimes you need someone to help calm your fears
And sometimes you need someone to help dry your tears
So don't be afraid to ask for

Someone to hold you tight
Someone to help you through the lonely, lonely, lonely night
Someone to help ease the pain
Someone who makes you feel like dancing in the rain, in the rain
In the rain, in the rain
